Chilean wine exports increased by 8.3% in volume terms and 5% in terms of value in the first eight months of 2003, according to wine producers’ association Chilevid.


Chile exported 242m litres of wine between January and August, earning US$242m.


Chilean wines were exported to around 100 countries during the period, although the US, UK, Germany, Denmark and Canada accounted for 56% of all sales.


Exports of bottled wines grew at a slightly slower pace than bulk wine exports, Chilevid cknowledged. Bottled wine exports grew 1.8% by volume and 3% by value year-on-year.
