Edrington has released the first in a new series of limited editions from its single malt Scotch whisky flagship, The Macallan.
A Night On Earth In Scotland, the first in the gift-targeted line, comprises whisky that has spent an unspecified time in ex-Sherry casks as well as American ex-Bourbon barrels. According to the company, the iteration was created to mark the Scottish New Year’s Eve celebration, Hogmanay.

“Crafting A Night On Earth In Scotland has been an extremely personal experience for me, which took me back to growing up in our family home in Speyside, just across the river from The Macallan Estate,” said The Macallan’s lead whisky maker, Sarah Burgess. “The whisky’s vanilla sweetness references the rich Scottish shortbread traditionally gifted and eaten at Hogmanay”.
The Macallan is 35%-owned by Suntory Holdings, which strengthened its relationship with Edrington last year by acquiring a 10% holding in the privately-owned company.
