Diageo has launched another expression from its Roe & Co Irish whiskey brand.
Roe & Co Cask Strength 2021 Edition was aged for 13 years and spent an unspecified amount of time in “alligator” new oak casks, named for the pattern produced on the barrel as a result of charring. The iteration is available for UK and Ireland-based customers from the Roe & Co website.
“With the 2021 Cask Strength edition, we’ve chosen to finish this Irish grain in a particularly interesting and unique cask,” said Roe & Co’s head distiller, Lora Hemy. “The grain is well matured and been specifically chosen to finish in these casks to heighten and develop the flavours that already exist in grain whiskey.”
Diageo started production at Roe & Co’s Dublin-based distillery in 2019.
The release is the third in Roe & Coe’s Cask Strength series, which also includes the 2020 iteration that was aged in ex-Port barrels.
