Cuervo has released a GTR-exclusive Bushmills from the Irish whiskey brand’s ‘Causeway Collection’ series.
Distilled in 1994, Bushmills 27-Year-Old Bourbon Cask initially spent six years in third-fill Bourbon barrels before being moved into first-fill Bourbon barrels for the rest of its maturation period. The cask strength single malt is limited to just under 680 bottles, all of which are on sale at two airports in Ireland.
“The popularity of Irish whiskey continues to soar,” said Roy Summers, head of GTR at Cuervo’s Proximo division. “Our focus is on providing exciting experiences for our customers and on giving travellers something they can’t find in their domestic markets.”
The Causeway Collection debuted last year and comprises single malt expressions from Bushmills’ distillery in Northern Ireland. The series takes its name from the Giant’s Causeway, which is a short drive from the distillery.
Bushmills is set to be joined by another distillery in Northern Ireland in 2022. Lough Neagh Distillers expects to start production next to a soon-to-be launched brewery in Lurgan, County Armagh.
