Whyte & Mackay has released this year’s version of Fettercairn 16 Years Old, an annual series that kicked off last year.

The second expression is a single malt Scotch whisky that has been aged in a combination of Sherry-matured and Sherry-finished casks. The casks comprise first-fill Oloroso, refill Oloroso and first-fill aged Palo Cortado Sherry butts, all from Jerez in Spain.

Following the roll-out of the limited edition – specific numbers were not disclosed – to several European countries, the single malt will hit the Global Travel Retail channel and “key” Asia markets next year. In GTR, Fettercairn 16 Years Old 2021 will be available in one-litre bottles for GBP79.

Whyte & Mackay is owned by the Philippines-based multi-category group Emperador, which according to GlobalData has a market capitalisation of around US$5.59bn.
