Beam Suntory is heading south with the ‘Premium’ expression of its Alberta Canadian whisky brand.
The US debut of Alberta Premium, announced this week, comes two years after a cask strength version of the whisky was released in the country. The liquid is made from Canadian rye grains grown on land near the Rocky Mountains.
Beam Suntory’s Alberta Distillers division has positioned the whisky at the US$25 price mark.
“We were thrilled by the response to our re-introduction of cask strength rye whisky to the US, and this year we wanted to offer US fans the opportunity to get their hands on the liquid we’re best known for,” said Alberta Distillers GM George Teichroeb.
Founded in 1946, Alberta Distillers was acquired by Beam Suntory in 2014.
Last month, Beam Suntory unveiled a global refresh for its Kilbeggan brand that included the renaming of the Single Grain Whiskey iteration as Kilbeggan Triple Cask Irish Whiskey.
