By GlobalDataThe expression has been aged in three different types of casks – firstly in refill casks of unspecified origin, followed by a second maturation in heavily-charred oak, then in old European oak puncheons. The whisky has been bottled at natural cask strength (58% abv).
“The Isle of Skye is a constant inspiration for the whisky we craft and this bottle celebrates the power and depth of the elements around us by exploring the thunderous waves of flavours unique to Talisker’s rugged coastal home,” said distillery manager Daniel Lumsden. “Whisky lovers who brave the long journey to meet us on Skye will … have the chance to taste what I regard as the most expressive, elemental Talisker released yet.”
Diageo is due to open a new Talisker visitor experience centre on Skye this summer, having revamped the distillery’s facilities as part of a GBP185m (US$242m) investment in Scotch tourism. Other Scotch distilleries to have received revamps as part of the spend include its Cardhu and Clynelish distilleries.
