The top five companies accounted for 4% of patenting activity
Analysis of patenting activity by companies shows that Nestle filed the most health & wellness patents within the consumer industry in Q3 2024. The company filed 55 health & wellness-related patents in the quarter, compared with 55 in the previous quarter. It was followed by Kangnam University with 39 health & wellness patent filings, Kotobuki Realty (23 filings), and DSM-Firmenich (22 filings) in Q3 2024.
Patenting activity was driven by China with a 35% share of total patent filings
The largest share of health & wellness related patent filings in the consumer industry in Q3 2024 was in China with 35%, followed by the US (8%) and Japan (5%). The share represented by China was 12% lower than the 47% share it accounted for in Q2 2024.
