Notably, Management Occupations jobs accounted for a 21% share of the global consumer industry’s digitalization-related total new job postings in Q1 2023, up 25% over the prior quarter.

Management Occupations drive digitalization-related hiring activity

Management Occupations, with a share of 21%, emerged as the top digitalization-related job roles within the consumer industry in Q1 2023, with new job postings rising by 25% quarter-on-quarter. Sales and Related Occupations came in second with a share of 10% in Q1 2023, with new job postings rising by 27% over the previous quarter.

The other prominent digitalization roles include Computer and Mathematical Occupations with a 7% share in Q1 2023, Business and Financial Operations Occupations with a 6% share of new job postings.

Top five companies in consumer industry accounted for 30% of hiring activity

The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q1 2023 were VF, US Foods Holding, Coty, LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton, and McCormick. Together they accounted for a combined share of 30% of all digitalization-related new jobs in the consumer industry.

VF posted 2,916 digitalization-related new jobs in Q1 2023, US Foods Holding 1,678 jobs, Coty 1,552 jobs, LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton 1,027 jobs, and McCormick 1,007 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.

Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 51.55% share of total new job postings, Q1 2023

The largest share of digitalization-related new job postings in the consumer industry in Q1 2023 was in the US with 51.55% followed by France (6.15%) and the UK (4.28%). The share represented by the US was seven percentage points higher than the 44.41% share it accounted for in Q4 2022.
