BrewDog’s two bars in the Indian city of Mumbai have reportedly closed, with the UK brewer refusing to be drawn on the status of its ambitions for the country.
According to The Financial Times, the outlets have been closed since the summer.
BrewDog confirmed to Just Drinks it still has two bars in India, one in Gurugram close to New Delhi and another in Amritsar.
Pratekk Chturvedi, a director of Aloha International Brewpub, which runs the BrewDog franchise in India, told the FT the landlords had wanted the bars to close.
“I am fairly certain that in the coming time, maybe in the next, say, three to four quarters, we will find a new location and start up in [Mumbai] again,” Chturvedi said.
BrewDog declined to comment to this publication, describing the matter as “a local franchise situation”.
