Coca-Cola bottler Kandhari Global Beverages has sought regulatory approval to acquire a batch of Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages’ assets.

In a regulatory filing, the Competition Commission of India (CCI) said Kandhari Global Beverages was looking to buy Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages (HCCB) assets in the Indian state of Gujarat and the union territory of Diu.

The proposed acquisition “aligns with [Kandhari Global Beverages’] objective of expanding its geographical footprint”, the CCI said.

According to Kandhari Global Beverages’ LinkedIn page, the company has operations in states including Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Punjab,

In December, The Coca-Cola Co. agreed to sell a 40% stake in Hindustan Coca-Cola Holdings, the owner of HCCB, to Jubilant Bhartia Group.  

The Coca-Cola Co. said in a statement the investment by the Indian conglomerate would support the company’s “ongoing success and strengthen its position in the Indian market”. 

The same month, HCCB agreed to sell its bottling operations in the Indian state of Jharkhand to Moon Beverages.

At the start of 2024, HCCB sold three bottling operations to SLMG Beverages, Moon Beverages and Kandhari Global Beverages. The latter snapped up assets in Rajasthan.
