Scotch whisky firm Inver House Distillers has reported rises in sales and profits for 2009.

Net sales rose by nearly 3% to GBP53m (US$84m) for the 12 months to the end of December, according to accounts filed by Inver House Distillers in the UK this week. Profits for the year reached GBP7m, up by a third on 2008, boosted by lower costs.

“We have continued to promote brand development,” said the privately-held distiller, which is owned by Thai Public Beverage Co (ThaiBev) and produces Old Pulteney single malt Scotch whisky. “New and replacement business is being won continually,” it said, adding that it has continued to work on new products.

Inver House operating profits rose by 23% for the year, to GBP9.8m.
