Boizel Chanoine Champagne has confirmed it plans to include disgorgement dates on bottles of Lanson Black, Rose and Ivory Label NV imported into the UK.
The Champagne firm, which acquired Groupe Lanson International in 2006, said today (17 March) that disgorgement dates will be included on the back labels of all 75cl bottles of the three brands in the UK going forward.
The move is “part of a long-term strategy to educate consumers on the taste of Champagne”, Lanson said. The unit claims it is the first Grande Marque to assure the quality of their wines using this technique across multiple wines within their portfolio.
“Consumers are keen for knowledge about Champagne so the best thing we can do for customers is to continuously communicate the heritage and provenance of Lanson and show why Champagne is worth its premium price point,” said Paul Beavis, managing director for Lanson International in the UK.
“This move demonstrates this commitment to consumer education and is in line with our approach to communicating what’s in the bottle.”
Back in September last year. Boizel Chanoine saw it net profits halve in the first six months of 2009 due to lower demand for Champagne in the global economic downturn.
