Scotland-based beverage brand owner Edrington has increased its shareholding in the Wyoming Whiskey brand to 80%.
The US whiskey brand, which was established in 2006, joined Edrington’s growing whiskey portfolio in 2018 when the Scottish group took a 35% stake. Financial terms of the latest deal – which gives Edrington majority control over Wyoming Whiskey – were not disclosed.
Wyoming Whiskey had been part of Edrington’s “Partnership Brands” business unit. Since first investing in the American straight whiskey and Bourbon producer, Edrington said the brand has outpaced volume and value growth in the “the ultra-premium American Whiskey category”, without providing figures.
The Wyoming-based brand currently offers nine different bourbon and rye whiskies made at its distillery in the town of Kirby.
All 37 of its employees will now join the wider Edrington business.
Edrington CEO Scott McCroskie said: “The ultra-premium American whiskey category is going through a period of rapid growth. This is an exciting opportunity to apply Edrington’s skills in crafting exceptional ultra-premium spirit brands to continue Wyoming Whiskey’s premiumisation journey.”
