Constellation Brands is due to report its first-half numbers on Thursday (2 October). Here, just-drinks examines how the US-based beer, wine and spirits firm has made the headlines in the three months to the end of August.
- In June, Constellation released a report that said wine drinkers categorised as “price driven” narrowly account for the highest proportion of consumers in the US. According to a study, drinkers who believe you can “buy good wine without spending a lot” represent 21% of US wine consumers.
- In July, the company appointed the MD of General Motors’ Mexican business to its board of directors.
- In August, Constellation said it was to buy the Casa Noble Tequila brand. The deal was completed this month.
- Also in August, the group issued a recall of its Corona Extra bottles in the US because of a danger they may contain glass particles. The recall was later widened.
- At the end of August, Constellation announced a new flavour for its Svedka vodka portfolio, Svedka Peach.
