The global drinks industry noticed a 9.3% drop in IT hiring activity in October 2022 over the previous month, led by PepsiCo’s 40.71% share, according to GlobalData’s Jobs Analytics database.
The drinks industry’s overall hiring activity declined 6.7% when compared with September 2022.
Noticeably, IT jobs accounted for a 2.6% share of the global drinks industry’s hiring activity in October 2022, down 0.27% over the last three-month average share.
According to GlobalData, IT job opportunities available at the end of October 2022 were 2.7% lower when compared with the previous month.
The decrease was a result of 5.04% higher job postings as compared to job closures during the month.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers with a share of 32.15% emerged as the top IT occupation in the drinks hiring activity in October 2022, a 16.79% decline over the previous month. Computer and Information Analysts came in second with a share of 24.78% in October 2022, up 10.53% over the previous month.
The other prominent IT roles include Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a 21.53% share in October 2022, a decline of 7.59% over the previous month, and Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a 17.4% share in October 2022 and a drop of 19.18% over September 2022.
Top five drinks companies by recruitment activity in October 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 6.38% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of global drinks industry during October 2022 over September 2022.
PepsiCo posted 138 IT jobs in October 2022 and registered a rise of 228.57% over the previous month, followed by Coca-Cola with 44 jobs and a 91.3% growth. Anheuser-Busch InBev with 24 IT jobs and Carlsberg with 23 jobs, recorded a 17.24% decline and a 56.6% drop, respectively, while Nestle recorded a 76.14% drop with 21 job postings during October 2022.
Regional composition of IT hiring in drinks industry
North America emerged as the leading region in the global drinks IT hiring activity in October 2022 with a 55.75% share, which marked a 9.88% rise over the previous month.
Asia-Pacific stood next with 22.12%, registering a 4.17% month-on-month growth. Europe was the third leading region with a 16.81% share and a 52.1% drop over September 2022.
In the fourth place was South & Central America with a share of 3.54% and a month-on-month rise of 33.33%. Middle East & Africa stood at the bottom of the table with a share of 1.77%, registering a flat growth over the previous month.
