Allied Blenders and Distillers has bought a clutch of brands from fellow Indian spirits group Fullarton Distilleries.

The Rs395m ($4.53m) acquisition includes Woodburns Contemporary Indian whisky, Pumori Small Batch Gin and Segredo Aldeia rum.

In a stock-exchange filing, Allied Blenders and Distillers said the deal “aligns well with its strategic goal of expanding the company’s portfolio in the premium alcoholic beverages segment and strengthening its market position”.

Allied Blenders and Distillers managing director Alok Gupta added: “We recognise that the luxury segment is where we have a right to win, where we can truly add value.  Acquiring these brands is a natural next step in our premiumisation strategy.

“This is not just an acquisition; it demonstrates our deep understanding of where we can create the most value. This is the future of ABD, and we are executing this vision with precision.”

Woodburns operates in six states and union territories, with plans for further expansion.

Pumori and Segredo Aldeia have established a “strong” presence in the on-trade sector across regions like Maharashtra and Goa.

Fullarton Distilleries founder and managing director Rajiv Thadani said: “We are proud to see these brands move forward with ABD, a company that has the scale, expertise, and vision to take them even further. With their leadership, we are confident that the legacy we have built will continue to grow and thrive in the years ahead.”

In the third quarter of Allied Blenders and Distillers’s 2025 fiscal year, the company reported a total income of Rs23.46bn, reflecting a 12.9% year-on-year rise.

The company’s EBITDA improved significantly to Rs1.2bn in Q3FY25, showing a 94.7% year-on-year surge.

At the time, Gupta attributed the performance to “strong volume growth in the prestige-and-above category, continuous sharp focus on high-yielding markets and managing input costs effectively”.

The company’s profit after tax was Rs570m in Q3FY25, marking a recovery from a loss of Rs400m in Q3FY24.

In line with its premiumisation strategy, in October, Allied Blenders and Distillers launched Russian Standard vodka in the Indian market in partnership with Roust Corporation.
