Bleeding Heart Rum Co has launched a rum under its Philippine Don Papa brand that is aged in American rye barrels.
Don Papa Rye Aged Rum is matured for four years in the Philippines using molasses rum from the country. The expression is inspired by the US influence on Philippine history, which includes being an American territory until 1946.
Produced on the island of Negros, Don Papa was launched in its home market in 2012 and is now available in 28 markets worldwide. The range is led by the 7- and 10-Year-Old expressions.
In June, Spanish spirits & liqueur producer Zamora Co added Don Papa to its third-party portfolio in the US. Zamora will handle the sales and marketing of the rum, with Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits dealing with distribution.
