Brown-Forman has debuted a new limited-edition iteration in the US from its Old Forester brand.
Old Forester 1910 Extra Old is the third release in ‘The 117 Series’ – a rare-expression line-up introduced by the brand owner last Spring. The Bourbon comprises Old Forester 1910 Old Fine Whisky that has been aged for 18 months in a second barrel made of an unspecified wood.
Retailing at US$50 per 37.5cl bottle, the Bourbon is available from the Old Forester distillery, as well as in selected stores in Kentucky, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Dakota and Washington DC.
“This release in The 117 Series is a curious exploration into the intensity of the proprietary heavily charred 1910 barrel,” said master taster Jackie Zykan. “This liquid was allowed to rest for 18 months in this secondary barrel, extracting significantly more of the heavily charred influence.”
Last month, Brown-Forman released the oldest expression to date from its The Glendronach Scotch whisky brand. The Glendronach 50 Year Old single malt is limited to just 198 bottles worldwide.
