Diageo has released a limited-edition expression from its Caol Ila Scotch whisky brand.

Caol Ila 24-Year-Old, unveiled today, is a single malt released to mark the brand’s 175th anniversary last year. The iteration is available to purchase now from the Lagavulin distillery on Islay as well as specialist online spirits retailers, including Malts.com.

Next year, the Caol Ila distillery will be the fourth and final Diageo-owned Scotch whisky to re-open following a GBP185m (US$260.6m) refurbishment investment across the Johnnie Walker ‘four corners of Scotland’ concept. The four distilleries represent the regional variations of Lowland (Glenkinchie), Speyside (Cardhu) and Highland (Clynelish) as well as Islay.

‘It’s fantastic to celebrate over 175 years of Caol Ila with a brilliant bottle,” said distillery manager Sam Hale. “I’m sure it will be a hit with our fans, who we look forward to welcoming when we open the doors to our re-imagined visitor experience.”

Last week, Diageo revealed plans for a GBP71m (US$98m) London facility for brand Guinness, described as a “microbrewery and culture hub.”
