Diageo has released another “extremely limited” expression from its Johnnie Walker blended Scotch whisky brand.

The company today said that Johnnie Walker Masters of Flavours was created using “the finest maturing whiskies in the Johnnie Walker reserves,” all of which were aged for at least 48 years. The expression comprises a blend of liquids from the mothballed Glyn Albyn, Port Dundas and Glenury Royal distilleries as well as whiskies from Diageo’s Cameronbridge, Blair Athol, Brora and Dalwhinnie production facilities.

The iteration, which is limited to 288 units is the final release in the Masters series that celebrates the career of the brand’s master blender, Jim Beveridge.

Further details of the roll-out were not immediately available.

“It is fascinating to craft a Scotch that pays tribute to each of the four main steps in whisky-making – malting, distilling, cask maturation and blending – to shine a light on how each craft contributes something very special to the extraordinary flavours that Scotch has to offer, from grain to glass,” Beveridge said.

Last week, group CEO Ivan Menezes said that Johnnie Walker is well-placed to capitalise on the renewed premiumisation trend in spirits following the pandemic.
