Two 30-year-old iterations feature in this year’s line of ‘Special Releases’ single malts from Diageo, with the eight limited-edition expressions set to be released later this year.

The 2020 bottlings, announced today, include a Talisker eight-year-old as the youngest single malt in the range, with a Dalwhinnie and a Pittyvaich representing the oldest. The Talisker eight-year-old is the first expression in the series to-date to have been finished in pot-still Caribbean rum casks, Diageo said.

All eight will be available at cask strength under the ‘Rare by Nature’ tagline,  which debuted a year ago.

“I’ve created this year’s Special Releases Collection, from some of my favourite distilleries across Scotland,” said Diageo’s master blender, Craig Wilson. “For those who enjoy spicy flavours, my recommendation would be to try our Cardhu, and for those who favour rich, intense and smooth flavours my choice would be Mortlach 21 year old. If you are curious about discovering something very rare, the Pittyvaich – the single ghost distillery in our Special Releases Collection this year – is an unforgettable dram.”

Next year will mark the 20th anniversary of the Special Releases portfolio.
