Edrington has added another ultra-premium extension to The Macallan’s portfolio, this time unveiling a 30-year-old single malt Scotch whisky.

Sitting in the brand’s ‘Double Cask’ series, the single malt consists of liquid matured in both Sherry-seasoned American and European oak casks. The Macallan Double Cask 30 Years Old joins the ‘gold’, 12-, 15- and 18-year-old expressions in the series.

The packaging comprises an oak box and features images taken by US photographer Erik Madigan Heck.

The Macallan is 35%-owned by Suntory Holdings, which strengthened its relationship with Edrington last year by acquiring a 10% holding in the privately-owned company.  Edrington also has Highland Park and The Glenrothes in its single malt portfolio as well as blended Scotch The Famous Grouse.
