Ian Macleod Distillers has lined up a new expression from its Smokehead single malt Scotch whisky brand.

The limited-edition iteration, released this week, spent an unspecified time ageing in ex-stout barrels. According to the company’s website, the single malt is only available for UK consumers to purchase online due to international courier restraints related to the UK’s departure from the European Union.

“Our unique and disruptive Smokehead thinking has led to some convention challenging, trail-blazing, rule-breaking whiskies over the years that don’t follow the usual traditions and rituals,” said Smokehead brand director Iain Weir. “Twisted Stout is as far away from a standard single malt as the combination of tastes, aromas and flavours inside the bottle.”

In August, Ian Macleod released Smokehead Rum Rebel, a rum barrel-finished no-age-statemented Scotch to mark ‘National Rum Day’ in the UK.
