Ian MacLeod Distillers has readied the release of the latest expression in the ‘Batch Strength’ line of bottlings from theTamdhu single malt Scotch whisky brand.
Like its four predecessors, Batch Strength No 005 is a no-age-statement Scotch. The most recent in the annual series comprises whisky that has been aged in Oloroso Sherry-seasoned casks from Jerez in Spain.
When contacted by just-drinks this week, a spokesperson for the company said Batch Strength No 005 will be available online to consumers in the European Union and “will also be listed with specialist retailers internationally”.
“This annual Tamdhu release … is a brilliant showcase of the beautiful colour and flavour derived from our exclusive, Sherry oak cask maturation process,” said Tamdhu’s distillery manager, Sandy McIntyre.
Ian Macleod acquired the Tamdhu distillery in 2011 from Edrington, who had mothballed the Speyside-based facility the year before. The distillery was brought back into operation seven years ago, with an annual production capacity of 4m litres of alcohol.
