Italian wine group Marchesi Frescobaldi has promoted COO Fabrizio Dosi to the position of CEO.
Dosi, who has been Marchesi Frescobaldi’s COO since 2019, will replace Giovanni Geddes da Filicaja, who is remaining with the company as one of the group’s board of trustees.
“I have been working side by side with Fabrizio Dosi for five years now and I have always admired his finely tuned and broad-ranging analytic skills,” Marchesi Frescobaldi president Lamberto Frescobaldi said.
“Fabrizio came to Frescobaldi with rich experience in a wide range of sectors, from fine food to high fashion, then passionately immersed himself in the world of wine. His ability to see the world from different positions has been of immense value to us,” Mr Frescobaldi added.
Dosi started his career as a consultant with Gemini Consulting. His previous experience includes senior marketing and retail management roles at luxury fashion house Bulgari. His former c-suite experience includes a stint as CEO of Giorgio Armani Hong Kong.
He said: “The world of wine has always been a real passion of mine, and it is one of Italy’s most important economic and cultural drivers. Thus, it is a great honour as well as a significant responsibility to guide such a prestigious group.”

By GlobalDataLast year, the company bought its tenth wine estate in Italy with the purchase of Poggio Verrano in Toscana. The group’s portfolio also includes Castello Pomino, Castello Nipozzano, Tenuta Perano, Tenuta Ammiraglia and Remole.
Separately, Marchesi Frescobaldi has a holding company with Michael Mondavi and SPI Group for three of its Tuscan wine estates – Tenuta dell’Ornellaia, Castel Giocondo and Luce della Vite – all of which are located in Tenute di Toscana.
Its latest acquisition was struck in July, with a deal for the Oregon wine producer Domaine Roy & Fils.
The purchase marked Marchesi Frescobaldi’s first entry into the US market. Domaine Roy & Fils, founded in 2012, holds a 40-acre estate in two locations that supply all of the grapes for the US group’s products.
