Coming up at this year’s London International Wine Fair:
- Beaujolais Wines (stand G40/2) is hosting a seminar per day at the LIWF next week. On Tuesday at 1430, Sarah Jane Evans MW hosts ‘World Cuisine and Beaujolais: A Match Made in Heaven’. Then, Charles Metcalfe presents ‘Beaujolais’ Splendid Cru’ on Wednesday at 1530. Finally, Sally Easton MW will discuss ‘Semi-Carbonic Maceration or the Burgundy Wine Making Method: Can You Taste the Difference?’ on Thursday at 1130. - Southern France specialist LGI-Alain Grignon Wines (stand F30) has three new releases to showcase next week. Esprit Soleil ‘Fruité’, a Vin de France 2011 is a lower abv wine (9.5%) from Gascony, that carries a RRP of GBP5.99 (US$9.60) per bottle. Petit Berger Blanc, is also a Vin de France 2011, comprising a blend of Marsanne and Viognier from the Languedoc and Colombard and Ugni Blanc from Gascony. Finally, Talavent Grenache 2010 Pays d’Oc is produced from 100% Grenache sourced from LGI’s latest signing, the Celliers Jean d’Alibert co-operative. For further details, email alison@ew-pr.co.uk.
- Bibendum (stands L30 & L21) will be doubling its footprint at the LIWF this year. The stand will include a seven-metre wall illustrating the wine supplier’s Taste Test survey, as well as a range of English wines from both long-standing partners and producers new to the business that forms part of Bibendum’s British Summer Time campaign. Also, d’Arenberg’s winemaker, Chester Osborn, will be on the stand as the winery celebrates its 100th birthday. d’Arenberg will showcase its new sparkling wine, Dadd, which commemorates the four generations of fathers who have developed the winery since Joseph Osborn purchased the vineyard in 1912. - Domaines Abecassis (stand W12) will use its presence at Distil next week to launch Ice Cognac by ABK6 in the UK. The Cognac has been designed to “develop progressively, highlighting distinct aromas via the contact with both ice and water”, according to the company.
