Coming up at this year’s London International Wine Fair:
- Wines of Portugal (Stand D10) is hosting a trade briefing at this year’s fair. ‘Is there a place for Portugal in the UK?’ takes place on Tuesday 22 May at 1400 on stand Q75. Peter Richards MW will lead a panel of UK wine trade members in a debate that will explore why Portugal is perceived to be under-achieving in the country. The panel, which includes Nuno Vale from Wines of Portugal, will also consider the trade body’s plans for the future. To book a seat at the briefing, email winesofportugal@cubecom.co.uk.
- McWilliam’s Wines (Wine Australia Stand N32) will celebrate its 135th anniversary this year at the wine fair, by presenting the McWilliam’s ranges and the Evans & Tate portfolio. Group senior winemaker Russell Cody will also be on the stand to show of his two lower-alcohol wines: McWilliam’s Beachcomber at 5.5% abv, and McWilliam’s Harmony at 8.5% abv.
- Australian Vintage (Wine Australia Stand N32, Pod 6) will showcase its premium wines from Tempus Two and Nepenthe at the fair. Visitors will be invited to taste through wines from the portfolio at the GBP8-plus price point. A sneak preview will also be available for the new Tempus Two Copper Range, set to be launched in the UK in August. New vintages of the McGuigan top end wines from the Shortlist and Handmade ranges will also be available on the stand.
- Grupo Codorníu (Stand K22) is launching six new wines at the trade fair. Among the new wines available to preview will be two new Cavas; Codorníu Brut and Codorníu Brut Rosado for the on- and off-trade. Codorníu will also host a series of ‘Meet the winemaker’ tastings on its stand throughout the fair. These 30-minute sessions are open to all visitors and will be presented by each brand’s winemaker.
