Higher net sales and lower costs helped the Kenyan brewer, East African Breweries Ltd (EABL), to post a 36% rise in full-year pre-tax profits of KS3.4 billion (Kenyan shillings) ($43.1m), up from KS2.5 billion last year.
“The key profit drivers came from net sales derived from the brand mix in the region,” said Gerald Mahinda, group finance and strategy director at EABL, part of the Diageo group. “People costs, administration costs and distribution costs were also contained, driving total overhead costs down.”
