Molson Coors Beverage Co is to add a second flavour to its Blue Moon LightSky beer range.
Unveiled this week at the group’s annual distributor conference in Las Vegas, Blue Moon LightSky Tropical is brewed with pineapple and orange peel and contains 95 calories per 12oz (35cl) can. The announcement of next year’s release comes just over a year after Molson Coors launched the original LightSky extension, Citrus Wheat, which according to the company is connecting well with consumers.
“LightSky is truly crushing it,” said Mara Schaefer, senior director of marketing for Molson Coors’ ‘above-premium’ brands. “It’s growing double digits in every region.”
The brand owner did not disclose an alcohol strength for LightSky Tropical. LightSky Citrus Wheat has an abv of 4%.
LightSky was highlighted as one of Molson Coors best-performing brands by CEO Gavin Hattersley last week as he hailed the success of the company’s premiumisation strategy. Speaking about why the group had discontinued 11 economy beer brands and 99 SKUs earlier this year, Hattersley said they were dragging on margins and complicating brewery operations.
