Pernod Ricard has launched a new expression under its city distilling project Our/Vodka using New York-grown basil.
Our/New York Basil is a small-batch, sustainably-produced vodka infused with basil cultivated at Brooklyn urban farm Square Roots. The vodka, created through a partnership with US non-profit organisation Rethink Food, is limited to 1,800 bottles and available in the New York City on-premise.
It is made by Our/New York, a distillery launched as part of Pernod Ricard’s Our/Vodka programme. Under the project, Pernod Ricard has set up a number of small distilleries in major world cities including New York, Miami, Los Angeles, London and Berlin. Other cities were involved in the scheme, but some distilleries closed down. In 2016, Pernod confirmed it had shuttered the Seattle branch but that it was keen to continue in new markets.
Last week, Pernod released a documentary exploring the Toronto drag queen scene in a campaign for the Absolut vodka brand.
