Germany’s RhönSprudel Group, known for its mineral water brands, is buying up the remainder of the fruit juice business Bauer Fruchtsaft.
RhönSprudel Group was itself the target of an acquisition, when France’s mineral water peer Alma Group snapped up the company in a 2022 deal. Included in that transaction was a 50% share in Bad Liebenwerda, Brandenburg-based Bauer Fruchtsaft.
RhönSprudel Group and Alma have now bought up the rest of the juice business for an undisclosed sum.
Bauer Fruchtsaft’s managing director Rainer Bauer will remain with the business through a transition period until an unspecified time in the new year but is stepping down from his role.
Christian Schindel, a family member of the RhönSprudel Group, will takeover management responsibilities with immediate effect.
A brief statement announcing the transaction said RhönSprudel Group will take Bauer Fruchtsaft into a “new phase” in which the new owners will “develop the strategic direction” of the business.
