Southern Glazer’s Wines & Spirits has appointed Cindy Leonard as the next head of its wine operations.
Leonard, the US distributor’s current senior VP of supplier management & business development, will replace the retiring wine GM, Steve Slater, on 1 January. A former salesperson with E&J Gallo, Remy Cointreau and Jackson Family Fine Wines, Leonard joined Southern Glazer’s in 2000.
Commenting on the appointment, chief sales officer Gene Sullivan said: “During her 20 years with Southern Glazer’s, Cindy has proven herself to be a results-oriented team player who has worked to develop a bench of solid relationships across our diverse supplier base … I can’t think of a better person to build on the incredible foundation that Steve Slater has established.”
Slater assumed his current role in 2016 having served in sales roles and as head of Southern Wine & Spirits California operations prior to its merger with Glazer’s. He has been with the company for 31 year.
Last month, Southern Glazer’s signed a distribution deal with Canopy Growth, Constellation Brands’ cannabis partner, to expand the footprint of its CBD beverages portfolio in the US.
