The California-based winery, which was acquired by Trinchero in 1948, has released details of Fruit Infusions, a line of 7.5% abv “sweet wines” infused with fruit juice and natural flavours. The range comprises Sweet Peach, Wild Berry and Tropical Pineapple.
Sutter Home cited research showing that ‘flavoured wine’ is growing rapidly in the US, up 60% in value terms last year to annual sales of $628m in the country.
“Generations of Sutter Home fans have turned to our brand for sweet wines, which span Sangria and Moscato to the original White Zinfandel,” said Sutter Home’s director of marketing, Jennifer Hohman. “Inspired by our fans’ affinity for sweet fruit flavours, we crafted this line of wines with real fruit juice for today’s consumer.”
In late March, the wine division of TV channel Hallmark unveiled Cheers Rosé Seltzer, an 8.4% abv sparkling rosé available in selected US cities in 25cl cans.
