The Oxford Artisan Distillery has released the second allocation of its inaugural English rye whisky.

Oxford Rye Whisky Batch #2, which is limited to 973 bottles, will be available to purchase online from 13 July. The expression can be bought at an SRP of GBP95 (131.90) via the company website and through alcohol e-tailers Master of Malt, Harvey Nichols, The Whisky Exchange, The Whisky Shop and Oxford Wine.

The no-age-statement rye has been matured in both virgin American oak and ex-Port casks.

According to the company, its distillery is the only England-based production facility to use “ancient heritage” grain – resulting in a flavour that it claims is unattainable using commercial grains.

The release follows the launch of Batch #1 in April, and Oxford Artisan aims to launch Batch #3, which spent time in ex-Moscatel de Setúbal dessert wine casks, on 31 July.

Last month, Chatham Imports launched its Michter’s Distillery’s US*1 Barrel Strength Rye 2021 in the UK.
