UK cocktail ingredient firm Funkin is looking to expand its business in the US with the creation of a new division in the country and the expansion of its UK team.
The firm that produces fruit purée for cocktails said today (12 March) that the move is being made in response to the growing demand for cocktails in the country.
Funkin’s founder, Alex Carlton, will move to the US this month to lead the new arm while chief executive Andrew King will continue to run the firm’s UK operations.
Carlton said: “In contrast to the economic climate, the cocktail market is booming, both in the on-trade and at home. As a result, we are accelerating Funkin’s development plans and setting ambitious growth targets. By establishing a presence in the US, we will realise those targets more effectively.”
The UK team is expanding with the addition of a brand manager, two UK sales appointments and an export manager. Alex Mervart is the new national accounts manager for retail and travel, Pete Mort and Chyrise Gardner are national account managers for wholesale, Amanda Widdison is export manager and James Wills brand manager.
Carlton added: “Our expansion into cocktail mixers, together with steady on-trade demand for purées, is creating more opportunities for us and we need to ensure effective growth management, whilst maintaining our focus on quality and customer service.”
