Vodka-to-mezcal supplier Amass Brands Group has expanded into a new category with the acquisition of a majority stake in Calirosa Tequila.
The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
In a statement, Amass Brands Group described the deal as a "significant milestone for both companies". The US company said Calirosa Tequila would benefit from "enhanced resources for growth and expansion".
Calirosa Tequila, set up in 2021 and based in Los Angeles, was co-founded by Maroon 5 lead singer Adam Levine and his wife Behati Prinsloo.
Its first products – a rosa blanco and an anejo – were launched the same year. At the time, the company secured distribution through Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits. The Tequilas are produced by the Real family.
Amass Brands Group CEO Mark Lynn said: “Calirosa's dedication to crafting outstanding Tequilas perfectly complements our existing portfolio, and we are excited to leverage our combined expertise to further elevate the brand and bring its top-tier products to even more consumers around the world.”
The company's portfolio includes vodka, mezcal, gin, wine and no-and-low spirits. In 2022, Amass Brands Group teamed up with singer Katy Perry to launch the non-alcoholic sparkling RTD brand De Soi.
In a joint statement, Levine and Prinsloo said: “We are proud of what Calirosa has achieved thus far and we believe that joining forces with Amass Brands Group will enable us to unlock even greater opportunities for our brand. Together, we look forward to continuing our journey of crafting superior Tequilas and sharing them with the world.”
