The Gardener Gin, created by the American actor Brad Pitt and French winemaking major Famille Perrin, has been launched into the UK market.

Family-run specialty wine, beer and spirits importer, distributor and retailer Amathus Drinks has been appointed to manage nationwide distribution of the gin brand.

It is being sold in the UK via Amathus's online and brick-and-mortar stores located in Bath, Brighton, and 11 locations across London. The spirit has a 42% abv and RRP of £55 ($70.54) for 70cl.

Inspired by the French Riviera region, The Gardener is distilled in France. It was first launched in 2023 by Pitt and the Perrin family in partnership with former Tanqueray gin distiller, Tom Nichol.

It is made from from wheat in copper stills, containing a mixture of citrus, juniper, liquorice, angelica and coriander botanicals.

The gin is currently sold across an array of channels in the US, France, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Greece, Austria and Turkey.

Commenting on the news, Greg Kimber, head of agency spirits at Amathus Drinks said: “We’re delighted to have been trusted to be the exclusive UK suppliers of The Gardener Gin, and to expand our collection of drinks from the creative minds of Brad Pitt and the Perrin Family.

"We’re admirers of Tom Nichol’s work, who is such an important and influential figure in the gin business, and with Pitt and Famille Perrin he has helped create a lively and modern gin that captures the art-de-vivre of the French Riviera."

Set up in 1978, Amathus Drinks distributes a range of spirits, wines, liqueurs and aperitifs, beers, ciders and cocktails across the UK through its website and 13 retail shops.

Its customers include Michelin-starred restaurants, upmarket hotels, bars and clubs.

Some of the brands in its portfolio include the wineries Moët & Chandon, Penfolds, Bollinger Champagne, whiskey distillers Johnnie Walker and The Macallan, as well as Tanqueray, Salcombe and Sipsmith gins.

Matthieu Perrin, co-founder of The Gardener brand and fifth generation of Famille Perrin, said Amathus's "commitment to excellence, diversity, and progression in the dynamic drinks sector mirrors that of Famille Perrin" and that it expected "a successful and long-lasting collaboration".

Based in the Southern Rhône Valley, Famille Perrin produce a number of well-known wine brands from the region including Château de Beaucastel, La Vieille Ferme, Miraval, Domaine du Clos des Tourelles, as well as its namesake range.

Brad Pitt first joined up with the Perrin group in 2008 together with actress and Pitt's former wife Angeline Jolie when they acquired the Provence rosé winery Chateau Miraval. Jolie sold her share of the winery to Stoli Group in 2021.
