Freixenet Copestick is set to handle the distribution of Bodega Argento’s wines in the UK.
The Argentinian group’s wines were previously distributed in the UK by Bibendum. The new deal starts on 1 January.
Bodega Argento’s wines, which stem from the Mendoza sub-regions of Agrelo, Altamira and Gualtallary, will be distributed across on and off-trade locations. Its brands include Artesano and Minimalista.
Rob Hilton, operations director of Freixenet Copestick, said: “We are delighted to welcome Argento into the Freixenet Copestick portfolio of great branded wines.
“We are very impressed with their approach to organic and sustainable production and their unique ability to deliver uncompromising quality at all price points. We look forward to working together to further add to their already impressive distribution in the UK.”
Bodega Argento owns 1,102 hectares across five vineyard sites in Mendoza, of which 452.5 hectares are planted. The company was founded in 1999 and is now present in around 50 markets.
The business is part of Grupo Avinea's portfolio. Avinea owns wine brands Otronia, Cruz de Piedra, Pacheco Pereda and Cuesta del Madero.
Rafael Calderon, managing director of Bodega Argento, said: “Our new partnership with Freixenet Copestick marks the start of a new phase of development for Bodega Argento in the UK.
“We are looking forward to working with expert brand builders to continue to strengthen our Artesano and Minimalista brands in the off-trade. We are also excited to work with Jascots to present Bodega Argento’s 100% organic range of premium Argentinian wines to on-trade customers.”
In July, Freixenet Copestick struck a deal with Spanish alcoholic drinks group Zamora Company to distribute its wines in the UK.
FXC evolved out of a merger of Freixenet and Copestick Murray in 2019. Its range of still and sparkling wines include I heart, Care for Wild, Freixenet and Mionetto.
Its products are sold via independent retailers, national specialist franchises, on-trade chains, restaurants wholesalers, as well as some private customers.
