Holyrood Distillery has contracted Dutch importer High Spirits to distribute its range of products in the Netherlands.

The deal follows a trial run of the UK distiller’s single malt whisky and Height of Arrows gin in the country last year.

Holyrood Distillery said the tie-up with High Spirits covers the “full range” of its spirits, which also includes rum brand Elizabeth Yard.

Financial terms were not disclosed but the deal will last at least three years, the Edinburgh-based distiller told Just Drinks.

High Spirits focuses on the Dutch off-trade, selling into specialist retailers. The company, based in the northern Dutch town of Heiloo, distributes brands including Murray McDavid Scotch and Eden Mill gin.

Giancarlo Bianchi, who joined Holyrood Distillery as sales director from Welsh whisky business Penderyn Distillery earlier this year, said: “High Spirits is a young, independent supplier, with a small yet dynamic team who are experts in identifying the best-suited independent retailers for brands.”

Holyrood Distillery, which opened in 2019, was co-founded by Canadian couple Rob and Kelly Carpenter, alongside David Robertson, a former master distiller for The Macallan.

The company said it is now selling in 15 overseas markets and has ten more confirmed for “early 2025”. Bianchi added: “Our priority is to identify the ideal export partners to tell our unique story, get liquid on lips and support our full portfolio of super-premium and innovative Scottish spirits and we believe that High Spirits is the perfect partner to do just that.”
