White Claw owner Mark Anthony Brands has launched a coffee-infused rum in the UK called Cloud House.
The coffee-flavoured rum is making its debut in the UK market this month and will first be available on Amazon on 7 October.
Mark Anthony Brands claims the Arabica coffee sourced for the drink is from a coffee farm called Cloud House, located in the Colombian mountain range Sierra Nevada de Santa. The rum is sourced from a local Colombian rum producer.
“Cloud House truly captures the authentic spirit of Colombia. Our rum, aged by the beach, where the sea mist adds sumptuous salted caramel notes, combined with the boldness of Colombian coffee, offers an unexpected, uplifting flavour with each sip,” Eve Heffernan, global brand manager for emerging spirits at Mark Anthony Brands, said.
“We’re excited to bring this Cloud House to the UK and we know cocktail and coffee lovers alike will embrace discovering this unique and delicious new liqueur.”
Just Drinks has contacted Mark Anthony Brands to ask if it has plans to roll out the rum into more channels in the UK and into more geographic markets.
The company already has a presence in spirits with its Bearface Canadian whisky and the Irish whiskey brand Glendalough.
Last year, the company also released a White Claw-branded vodka, its first spirit play outside hard seltzer using the White Claw branding.
Mark Anthony Brands said the flavoured vodka move had been facilitated by a change in US regulations in 2020 that allowed vodka to have a more distinctive flavour.
Prior to 2020, The Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Board (TTB) required all vodka to be “without distinctive character, aroma, taste, or colour”. The change in regulation encouraged Mark Anthony Brands to enter the market for flavoured vodka.
Mark Anthony Brands released its first non-alcoholic White Claw last year. White Claw 0% went on sale in the US in January in four flavours.
