US wine major Trinchero Family Estates is joining forces with viticulturist David Abreu on a “luxury” wine project.

The Neyers Vineyards brand owner will work with Abreu on developing wine from his four vineyards in the Napa Valley.

In a statement, Trinchero Family Estates said the company and Abreu would be “partners” on a project that will start with the 2024 vintage.

The deal – the terms of which were not disclosed – “will set the stage for a future luxury wine project between Abreu and Trinchero Family Estates”, the group added.

Just Drinks has asked Trinchero Family Estates for more details on the agreement.

Abreu owns four vineyard sites – Madrona Ranch, Thorevilos, Cappella and Las Posadas – that span the Howell Mountain and St. Helena appellations.

“This alliance is one that Trinchero is very proud of and indicative of our commitment to steadily growing our luxury capabilities with important partners such as David Abreu and his family,” Trinchero Family Estates CEO Bob Torkleson said.

Last month, Trinchero Family Estates added the wines of Celler Vall Llach to the range of Spanish wines it distributes in the US.

The business will import four brands: Mas de la Rosa, Embruix, Porrera Vi de Vila White and Porrera Vi del Vila Red.

Trinchero Family Estates also has import deals with companies including Italy’s Famiglia Cotarella and Australia’s Angove Family Winemakers.

The group has a presence in spirits with brands including Tres Agaves Tequila and Trincheri vermouth.
